Still No Internet....=(

I never thought I'd be this heavily reliant on internet, especially since I have a dumb phone at home. I thought I could handle this but no! It's like my right arm is missing or something! It's been a total pain up my behind because most of the student outings are posted only on facebook and I can't even check normal school events etc. UGH. Not to mention that I have so much to say and so little time to blog! Hopefully the router gets mailed to us REAL soon and I can finally stop complaining about it by next week.

ANYWAY. The past few days have been less sight-seeing and more school-related stuff like orientations, career fairs, free food and the like. On Wednesday evening there was an international student bar night at the Studenthuset, which is the student lounge, right on main street downtown Copenhagen. It was fun meeting lots of tall European students but they are all so so young! Oh well, they make me feel young too. =)

From what I have seen there seems only to be 5 Canadians here in the law exchange program this semester including myself. Two from the University of Calgary, another two from Toronto somewhere and one French dude that I have only heard of and not met. The bulk of the international student body is European which is neat for me because everyone I've met so far speaks like 3 different European languages and has a cool accent.

First thing on the blogging agenda: The International Terrorism and Security Law professor is a 100% BABE. Seriously OMG. He gave us the introduction to Danish law school lecture yesterday and he looked like he could've just walked off the latest Hugo Boss ad. The people who know me well, will know that this is a serious statement. I have never in my life called anyone a 100% babe. Generally people are 'cute' or 'pretty' but this guy was quite literally blazing-straight-off-the-greatest-bbq-ever HOT. I really wanted to take a photo and post it here but that seemed a bit too creepy so I refrained. But even if you don't trust my judgment, every single female student in that lecture was in agreement with me. In fact, after the lecture, we all chatted about how interested we now were in counter terrorism law. I'm thinking of attending the first class on Monday actually....just to see how it goes. LOL

We had an awesome day yesterday where we had free lunch, a tour of the downtown campus, the lecture by that beautiful beautiful man and also a matriculation ceremony in a really old hall. There are these heads that stand in the square in front of the old hall and hey, this one's for all you engg nerds. Remember this guy?? Apparently he's Danish!

The hall was really beautiful and my terrible photography skills don't begin to do it justice but here are a few photos from before the welcoming ceremony began. The University Chancellor told us there are roughly 1300 exchange students this semester alone. And at the end of it we got to shake his hand and then there were free lattes, hot dogs and cup cakes in the courtyard behind the hall.

The free hot dog!

Oh yes and I joined the law school soccer team! Ahem, actually it was the law school football team. People here get offended when I refer to this great sport by its other more inferior name. Unfortunately when I don't all my North American cohorts get confused as to what sport I am actually playing. The dude I signed up with seemed really hardcore and to be honest I don't think he much wants me on the team. After I signed up, I watched him practically drool as he tried to recruit a 6'-2" strapping young English lad.

I had a major trip to IKEA today and finally got a real pillow and a real duvet (the sleeping bag just wasn't cutting it anymore) More groceries are in order today where I will be buying some Uncle Ben's rice because that other rice just wasn't working for me. Who cooks rice in bags?? I bought a box of white grain rice because as everyone knows I love my starches and carbs and need them to survive. They came in 5 clear plastic packets so I thought, 'obviously I cut the bag open and pour the rice into boiling salted water.' That's a negative. It ended up looking like porridge and my roommate laughed at me saying, 'why would you cut the bag open?' Again, who cooks rice in bags?? Europeans do.
